James Brown

Chief Information Security Officer at Springhill Medical Center

James Brown started their work experience in 1999 as a Signal Support Systems Specialist in the US Army. From 2006 to 2011, they served in the Illinois Army National Guard, initially as a Visual Information Manager and later as an Information Assurance Manager. In 2011, they joined BlueCross BlueShield of SC as a Senior I/S Risk and Compliance Analyst. James then worked as a Chief Information Security Officer at the SC Department of Health and Human Services from 2015 to 2018, and at the State of South Carolina from 2018 to 2022. In 2022, they founded Solid Cyber Advisory and Solution Services and served as a Consulting Principal. In 2023, they took on the Chief Information Security Officer role at both The SSI Group, LLC and Springhill Medical Center.

James Brown attended Robinson High School from 1994 to 1998, where they obtained their High School Diploma. James then went on to enroll at Limestone University in 2012. From 2012 to 2014, they pursued an Associate of Arts (A.A.) degree in Business at Limestone University. Continuing their education at the same institution, James completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Computer and Information Systems Security in the field of IT Systems Security and Management from 2012 to 2015. Additionally, in 2010, they obtained a certification called CISSP from (ISC)².
