Ken Johnstone

Ken Johnstone is a registered Australian and New Zealand patent and trade mark attorney with extensive experience in chemical inventions, currently serving as Special Counsel at Spruson & Ferguson since April 2016. Prior to this role, Ken led the Nanomaterials Division at the Botswana Institute for Technology Research and Innovation from 2014 to 2016, overseeing a team of over 30 scientists and managing a substantial budget. Ken's expertise includes directing research on mycotoxins and pesticides at the National Food Technology Research Centre, and contributions to medicinal chemistry at Progen Pharmaceuticals, where Ken was instrumental in developing an anti-cancer drug. Ken's academic background includes a Master’s degree in Intellectual Property Law from the University of Technology Sydney and a PhD in Supramolecular Chemistry from the University of New England.
