Joe Meiring

Joe Meiring has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Joe'smost recent position is as a Senior Data Engineer at SpyCloud, a role that they started in November 2021. Prior to that, they worked as an Independent Consultant at Intergalactic Media, specializing in consulting on Python/Flask/Angular/D3/Postgres projects in the Austin area, with a focus on geospatial data and analytics in web applications. Joe started this role in July 2015 and continues to work in the company.

From November 2016 to January 2022, Joe worked as a Senior Software Engineer at the Texas Advanced Computing Center (TACC) where they were involved in various projects including the development of web applications to facilitate the use of high-performance computing environments and the creation of a PaaS system (Tapis) using a microservices architecture.

Before their role at TACC, Joe worked as a Senior Python/Web Developer at Exigo Energy Solutions from October 2013 to June 2015. Joe also had a brief stint at Apple from March 2013 to October 2013 in a similar role.

Prior to these positions, Joe worked as a Python Developer/Contractor at Balfour from July 2012 to April 2013 and as a Software Developer/Contractor at InView Technology Corporation from October 2012 to February 2013. Joe also worked as a Python Developer at the Texas Water Development Board from February 2012 to July 2012.

Earlier in their career, Joe held academic positions as a Senior Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst from July 2010 to March 2012 and as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Louisville from July 2008 to July 2010.

Joe Meiring completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Physics at the College of Charleston from 1998 to 2003. Following this, they pursued further studies at the University of South Carolina, where they obtained a PhD in Physics from 2003 to 2008.
