Rui Ascenso

Rui Ascenso has diverse work experience in various roles and industries. Rui co-founded and serves as the COO of sqill since 2023. Prior to this, Rui worked at EY from 2014 to 2023. During their time at EY, they held multiple positions including Manager in the Strategy and Transactions division and Senior Consultant in the Transaction Advisory Services division. Rui'sresponsibilities included advising clients, leading international teams, and conducting valuations for various purposes such as purchase price allocations and legal entity valuations. In addition, Rui was a Staffing Champion and member of the Staffing Team at EY. Before joining EY, Rui worked as a Research Assistant at Católica Lisbon School of Business and Economics in 2013, where they contributed to research papers in empirical finance. Rui also gained sales experience at MetLife, Union Fenosa Gas, and Planeta D' Agostini. Rui's work experience demonstrates their expertise in strategy, transactions, valuations, research, and sales.

Rui Ascenso completed a BSc in Economics from Católica Lisbon School of Business and Economics from 2009 to 2012. During their undergraduate studies, they participated in an exchange semester at the Norwegian School of Economics (NHH) in 2011. Following this, they pursued an MSc in Finance from Católica Lisbon School of Business and Economics, which they completed from 2012 to 2014. In 2013, Rui also undertook an exchange semester at Carnegie Mellon University - Tepper School of Business, where they earned an MSc in Finance. Additionally, they obtained two certifications: the Certified Scrum Product Owner from the Scrum Alliance in June 2013 and the Certified Associate in Project Management from the Project Management Institute in February 2013.
