Margaret Gillis has extensive experience in education research and academia. Margaret currently works at SRI International as a Principal Education Researcher/Senior Manager, where they conduct research and provides technical assistance on early childhood education and evaluation projects. Prior to this, they held positions at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro as an Assistant Professor and Project Director, specializing in early intervention and special education. Margaret also worked as an Instructor/Research Assistant at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and as a Research Assistant at Harvard University's Graduate School of Education.
Margaret Gillis completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Child Development with a focus on Birth-Kindergarten at Appalachian State University from 1998 to 2002. Margaret then pursued further education and obtained a Master of Education degree in Education with a specialization in Risk and Prevention from Harvard University in 2005. Following that, they pursued a PhD in Education focusing on Early Childhood, Special Education, and Literacy (ECSEL) at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill from 2005 to 2011.
