Jani Verkasalo

Jani Verkasalo holds extensive experience in procurement and logistics, currently serving as a Board Member of the Responsible Shipping Initiative since September 2020. In a parallel role as Procurement Director at SSAB since October 2014, Jani oversees procurement operations in Sweden and Finland, managing both raw materials and operational procurement. Previously, Jani held various positions at SSAB including Procurement Manager and Commodity Manager, and worked as a Purchasing Engineer at Ruukki. Jani's academic background includes a Master’s in Industrial Engineering and Management from the University of Oulu, complemented by further education at the Stockholm School of Economics. Notably, Jani received the "Master's Thesis of the Year" award from the Finnish Association of Purchasing and Logistics in 2013.
