Nigel Dawkes

Nigel Dawkes has a diverse work experience spanning over several companies and roles. Nigel started their career in 1998 as an Operations Manager at Aerial Sites, Spectrasite Transco, and Gridcom, where they successfully led a team of engineers in maintaining private mobile radio systems across the country. In 2004, they joined National Grid Wireless as the Head of Field Operations - North, overseeing the operation of the BBC's broadcast network in Scotland, Northern and Central England, and North Wales. At Arqiva, where they worked from 2008 to 2015, they served as the Head of Operations, leading a specialist engineering team responsible for installation, commissioning, and maintenance of the UK's broadcast antenna network. From 2015 to 2017, Nigel worked at Cobham Wireless as the EMEA - Regional Service Manager, leading a team of engineers providing service and support contracts to mobile telecommunications equipment manufacturers across Europe. Most recently, they held two roles at SSE Energy Solutions, starting as the Head of Operations and Maintenance in 2017 and subsequently becoming the Head of Asset Management in 2021. In these positions, they oversaw operational activities for various business sectors, including district heating networks, solar networks, and battery storage solutions. Overall, Nigel Dawkes has a wealth of experience in managing and maintaining complex infrastructure systems in the energy and telecommunications sectors.

Nigel Dawkes completed their Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Electronics and Communications Engineering from the University of South Wales from 1994 to 1998. Prior to that, they attended Porth County Comprehensive from 1987 to 1994, where they studied Geography and Electronics in high school. In 2012, they obtained a NEBOSH certification in Health and Safety from Key Consultancy.
