Stephen Maughan

Stephen Maughan is an experienced legal professional currently serving as Secondee Legal Manager for Commercial and Construction at SSEN Transmission since December 2024, and has been a Legal Manager in Commercial & Construction Onshore Renewables at SSE plc since May 2020. With a background as a Senior Solicitor, Stephen provides advisory services on a variety of development, construction, procurement, financing, operational, and dispute resolution matters across offshore wind, onshore wind, and hydro projects. Prior to SSE, Stephen worked at Shepherd and Wedderburn as an Associate in the Infrastructure Team, advising on energy and infrastructure projects. Additional experience includes a solicitor role at ScottishPower, a secondment at the UK Government's Ministry of Defence, and an earlier position as a Research Associate at CoStar Group. Stephen holds a Diploma in Legal Practice from the University of Strathclyde and an LLB (Hons) from the University of Glasgow.
