Michael Dignan

Michael Dignan is a Civils Operation Engineer at SSEN Transmission since October 2025, bringing extensive experience in academia and the construction industry. Previously, Michael served as a University Lecturer at Robert Gordon University from June 2023 to October 2025 and as Project Director at Gleeds from June 2022 to June 2023. Michael also held the position of Course Leader for BSc Surveying at Robert Gordon University for over a decade, from August 2009 to June 2022. Earlier career roles include Building Surveyor at Thomas and Adamson and MOUCHEL plc. Michael's education includes a PhD in Concrete Technology from the University of Dundee, alongside an MSc in Concrete Technology, Construction and Management, and a BSc (Hons) in Building Surveying from Heriot-Watt University. Current research focuses on upgrading non-traditional steel housing in collaboration with Abertay Housing Association, complemented by teaching interests in various aspects of building design and standards.
