Mike Engels

Mike Engels has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. Mike is currently working as a GIS Software Engineer at SSP Innovations, LLC since March 2021.

Prior to that, Mike worked at Explore Information Services from 2013 to 2020. In this company, they held two roles. Firstly, as a Software Developer II from December 2017 to February 2020, they were involved in ETL and .net development on new products. Mike played an integral role in an agile development team that successfully launched two new products within 18 months. Secondly, as a Data Analyst from March 2013 to January 2018, Mike was a member of the Data Analytics team. Mike used various tools for mining, transforming, analyzing, modeling, and visualizing Big Data. Mike was also responsible for managing and developing the analytics database for new product development in the insurance industry.

From 2006 to 2013, Mike worked at the International Crane Foundation as a Spatial Analyst/GIS Database Administrator. In this role, they assisted field ecologists in developing and implementing research projects, analyzing data, and managing spatial databases. Mike also performed spatial analysis and developed models to understand issues related to cranes.

Mike's early work experience includes a role at Merrill Lynch Howard Johnson Inc. from 1999 to 2002 as a Plan Manager. Mike managed defined benefit and defined contribution plans for major corporations, including monthly distributions, calculations of QDRO's, and reconciliation of large corporate plans. Additionally, they developed cost estimation models for highly compensated employees.

Mike Engels obtained a B.S. in Mathematics from the University of Notre Dame from 1991 to 1994. Mike then went on to pursue an MGIS degree in Spatial Analysis at the University of Minnesota from 2003 to 2005. Additionally, they have obtained certifications in C# Essential Training: 1 Syntax and Object-Oriented Programming from LinkedIn in July 2021, and Visual Studio 2019 Essential Training from LinkedIn in June 2021.
