Rick Cain has extensive experience in both the health care and museum sectors. Currently serving as the Director of Museum Services Division at St. Augustine Lighthouse & Maritime Museum since August 2001, Rick oversees a Smithsonian affiliate maritime museum that attracts over 230,000 visitors annually and engages in active marine archaeology research. Prior to this role, Rick held various positions at the museum, including Deputy Director and Director of Operations. In addition, Rick has served as Chairman of the Board for the Florida Attractions Association and authored a speculative fiction novel titled "Neosho - Book One, The Neosho Chronicles." Earlier in the career, Rick worked as a registered nurse in pulmonary, neurology, and coronary care settings, with additional early roles in mental health, emergency care, and tourism. Educational credentials include a BA in Philosophy & Religion/Psychology from the College of the Ozarks and a nursing diploma from Cox College.

A pivotal navigation tool and unique landmark of St. Augustine for over 140 years, the St. Augustine Light House and Maritime Museum, Inc. is a non profit Museum with a mission to discover, preserve present and keep alive the stories of the nation's oldest port as symbolized by our working St. Augustine Lighthouse. We keep the light shining as the front porch light for our community; We save six historic structures, and we preserve over 19,000 artifacts, and archival books, records and documents. Our archaeological scientists explore hundreds of shipwrecks under the waves and we teach young people about maritime heritage and marine sciences. Our summer camp for children offers scholarships to at-risk youth through a partnership with Sertoma Club.
