Stephen Zafirau

Stephen Zafirau has a diverse work experience in the field of education and data strategy. Stephen currently holds the position of Director of Instructional Support at St. Charles Parish School Board since April 2023. Prior to that, they worked as the Director of Data Strategy and Governance at Louisiana Department of Education from June 2021 to April 2023. Before joining the state department, Stephen served as the Director of Educator Performance at Jefferson Parish Public School System from March 2019 to June 2021.

Stephen's earlier experience includes roles at St. John the Baptist Parish Public Schools, where they worked as a District Data & Reporting Analyst from July 2017 to March 2019, Curriculum Facilitator from August 2014 to June 2017, and a Classroom Teacher (Math and Social Studies) from September 2009 to July 2014. Stephen also worked as a Visiting Assistant Professor at Tulane University from July 2008 to June 2009.

Stephen Zafirau obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Dayton in 2001. From 2001 to 2009, they pursued a Doctor of Philosophy in Sociology at the University of Southern California. Stephen later completed their Master of Education in Educational Leadership and Administration, General at Southeastern Louisiana University from 2012 to 2014.
