Michael Shiferaw

Michael Shiferaw is a PhD candidate at the University of Colorado Boulder since August 2022, focusing on how cells respond to radiation, particularly in terms of regeneration and tumor-like behavior, utilizing both experimental techniques and computational tools to analyze complex biological datasets. Additionally, Michael has served as a student mentor for biology classes at St. Cloud State University since January 2017, has held roles as a laboratory teaching assistant, and was a summer undergraduate research fellow, where work involved the systematic inhibition of horizontal gene transfer of antibiotic resistance plasmids in E. coli strains. Academic qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, a Master’s degree in Cell/Cellular and Molecular Biology, and ongoing doctoral studies in the same field.
