Deanna Nelson

Director of Community Health and Wellness at St. Croix Regional Medical Center

Deanna Nelson has an extensive work experience history. Deanna started their career in 1997 as an Assistant Athletic Trainer at the University of Minnesota Duluth. After six years, they joined Essentia Health as a Head Athletic Trainer/Physician Extender before moving to Fairview Health Services as a Clinic Supervisor at Fairview Sports and Orthopedic Care. In 2011, they joined St. Croix Regional Medical Center as a Manager of Wellness Services and eventually became the Director of Community Health and Wellness in January 2018.

Deanna Nelson began their education journey in 1993 at the University of Minnesota, where they obtained a Bachelor of Applied Science (BS) degree in Kinesiology/Sports Medicine and Business in 1997. Deanna further pursued their educational goals, earning a Master of Education (MEd) degree in Sport and Exercise Science from the University of Minnesota Duluth between 1997 and 1999. Deanna Nelson's dedication to academic excellence led their back to the University of Minnesota, where they later completed their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Psychology from 2002 to 2008.
