Marian Lien has a diverse work experience. Marian started their career in 2006 as the Director of Diversity Education at Central Washington University and worked there until 2011. Marian then held the position of Executive Director at the Squirrel Hill Urban Coalition from 2014 to 2019. In 2016, they became the Board President of OCA - Asian Pacific American Advocates. Marian also served as a Commissioner on Pittsburgh City’s Commission on Human Relations from 2017 to 2018. Marian worked as a Commissioner on Governor Wolf’s Advisory Commission on Asian Pacific American Affairs from 2018 to 2021. Marian was the Director of Education for Inclusion and Global Awareness at St. Edmund's Academy from 2019. Marian is currently a Board Trustee at the Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium.
Marian Lien attended UC San Diego from 1987 to 1992 where they pursued a Bachelor's degree. During this time, they studied Biochemistry, Chinese Studies, and the Asian American Experience. From 2012 to 2014, they attended the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public and International Affairs (GSPIA) where they completed their Master's degree in Public Policy and Management.
