Saint Francis Medical Center in Trenton, New Jersey, operates a School ofRadiologic Technology. The school’s comprehensive academics preparestudents to work as radiologists in various facilities and capacities.Saint Francis’ two-year program leads to a certificate in RadiologicTechnology. The first year combines study of Anatomy and Physiologywithvarious types of radiographic techniques, and puts students on a clinicalassignment. The second year teaches more advanced and varied imagingtechniques. Second-year students also undertake a longer, more involvedclinical assignment.Since students learn such a wide range of radiographic techniques, theyare prepared to work in many specialized areas within the field.Graduates work in such specialized professions as: * Cat scan imaging * Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) technology * Nuclear medicine * Radiation therapy * SonographySome graduates even work in non-clinical settings, securing positions insales, education and medical management.Admissions requirements include a high school diploma or GED, an averagereading score on the HOBET exam and three letters of recommendation.Applicants will also need passing scores in college English and Algebra.A background check, a drug screening and a physical exam are required aswell.The School of Radiologic Technology awards Pell grants and loans toeligible students. An applicant’s eligibility is determined once theysubmit their FAFSA and proof of income. The school also offers tuitionassistance programs for veterans.
