Mike Stockton

Mike is a Consultant in Palliative Medicine and the Chief Medical Officer at St Gemma’s Hospice in Leeds, where he has been employed since 1998.

Mike qualified in medicine at the University of Leeds in 1988 and has trained in and around the Yorkshire region.

Over his career, Mike has held the role of Training Programme Director and Regional Specialty Adviser and has established the St Gemma’s Professor of Palliative Medicine, the University of Leeds, which has led to the growth of the Leeds Academic Unit of Palliative Care.

Mike has recently taken up the role of the Chair of the Leeds Palliative Care Managed Clinical Network.

Nationally, Mike is the Treasurer and an Executive Committee Member of the Association of Palliative Medicine and is part of the Palliative Care Congress (international conference) organizing committee.
