Jacolby Octave is a multifaceted professional with extensive experience in emergency management, safety, and community service. Currently serving as a Manager at Waste Pro USA and an Account Manager at R&J Consulting LLC since 2023, Jacolby also holds the position of Safety Officer at Total Safety and has been an Emergency Management Planner for the St. James Parish Government since 2018. Additionally, Jacolby has served as President of the Vacherie Fire Department since 2013 and as a Sheriff Deputy with the St. James Parish Sheriff Office since 2010. Previously, Jacolby worked as a Mobile Equipment Operator with the Lafourche Basin Levee District, ensuring the maintenance of levees to Core of Engineer standards. Currently pursuing an Associate's degree in Emergency Management at Baton Rouge Community College, Jacolby's dedication to protecting and serving the citizens of St. James Parish is evident throughout their career.

The men and women of the St. James Parish Sheriff’s Office are sworn to “protect and serve” the people of this parish. This oath is accomplished by giving the highest level of service to the community, and through regular scheduled training and by maintaining a strong commitment. Our regular deputy sheriffs total one hundred and two and our part-time deputy sheriffs total seven. Our goal is to provide quality professional law enforcement to St. James Parish.
