Alan Thornton

Alan Thornton has extensive experience in leadership roles within nonprofit organizations, currently serving as President & CEO of St. John's Community Services since November 2017, where the focus is on fostering inclusive communities. Prior to this, Alan was the CEO of the Rescue Mission Alliance of Syracuse, Inc. from 1994 to 2017, guiding the organization in its mission to provide hope and support for those facing hunger and homelessness. Alan also held the position of Chief Operating Officer/Director of Operations at the same organization from June 2004 to August 2012, overseeing daily operations. Academic credentials include a Master of Business Administration from Syracuse University’s Martin J. Whitman School of Management and a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science from Messiah University.
