Alvin Khan

Chief Medical Physicist at St. Joseph's Health

Alvin Khan has extensive work experience in the field of medical physics and education. Alvin is currently the Director of Clinical Physics at Hackensack Meridian Health starting in 2023. Prior to this, they held the position of Chief Medical Physicist at St. Joseph's Health since 2021. From 2017 to 2021, Alvin worked at Summit Medical Group of New Jersey, first as a Senior Medical Physicist/Supervisor and later as a Medical Physicist. Alvin also served as an Assistant Professor and Instructor at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School from 2014 to 2017. Before that, they worked as a Medical Physicist and Resident Physicist at Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey from 2011 to 2017. Alvin's career started as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of California, San Diego from 2009 to 2011. Prior to that, they were a Graduate Research Assistant and Graduate Teaching Fellow at Boston University, Hearing Research Center from 2001 to 2008. Alvin also gained experience as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at Columbia University, Cardiac Biomechanics Group from 2000 to 2001. Lastly, Alvin worked as a General Certificate of Education A-Level Instructor at Presentation College Chaguanas from 1996 to 1997.

Alvin Khan completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical/Mechanical Engineering from Columbia University in 2001. Alvin then pursued a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Biomedical Engineering from Boston University, which they completed in 2008. In 2011, Alvin Khan enrolled in the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey for a Medical Physics Residency program, which they finished in 2013. In 2015, they obtained certification in Therapeutic Medical Physics from The American Board of Radiology.
