Dr. Aliya Khan has a vast work experience in the field of medicine and bone research. Aliya currently serves as the Canadian Ambassador for the American Society for Bone and Mineral Research (ASBMR) since 2019. Prior to this, they held various roles at McMaster University starting from Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine in 1993, advancing to Associate Clinical Professor, Clinical Professor of Medicine, and eventually becoming the Director of the Fellowship in Metabolic Bone Disease. Aliya also served as the Director of the Calcium Disorders Clinic at St. Joseph's Healthcare Hamilton and as the Director of the Bone Research & Education Centre (BREC). Additionally, they worked as a Consultant in the Department of Medicine at Halton Healthcare since 1989.
Aliya Khan MD, FRCPC, FACP, FACE completed a Clinical Research Fellowship in Calcium and Metabolic Bone Disorders & General Endocrinology at the University of Toronto in 1988-1989. Aliya went on to earn a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from the University of Ottawa. Additionally, they obtained a specialty in Internal Medicine with degrees in FRCPC and FACP, as well as a specialization in Geriatric Medicine and Endocrinology with the FACE certification from the University of Toronto.
