Gary Cairns has a diverse work experience in the education sector. Gary began their career as an English Teacher at Redcar Academy from 2003 to 2007. Gary then worked at St. Stephen's International School as the Head of English Department, Head of Year, and Head of PSHCE from 2007 to 2012. After that, they joined The British School of Beijing, Shunyi as the Head of English Department from 2012 to 2016. Gary's most recent role was at St. Joseph's Institution International School Malaysia, where they served as the Head of School starting in April 2022. Prior to this, they held various positions at the same school, including Deputy Head of School/Deputy Principal High School, Assistant Principal, IGCSE Coordinator, and Head of English Department, between 2016 and 2022.
Gary Cairns received their Bachelor of Arts degree in English Studies from Northumbria University in 2002. In 2003, they obtained their PGCE English Education qualification from the University of Sunderland. Finally, from 2016 to 2019, they pursued a Master of Arts degree in Education from the University of Sunderland. Prior to their tertiary education, Gary attended Wellfield Comprehensive School.
