Richard Hellmeier is a seasoned law enforcement professional with extensive experience, currently serving as a Police Lieutenant at the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department since March 1998. In this role, Richard oversees a platoon of twenty-four commissioned officers. Previous positions include Police Sergeant in Internal Affairs, where Richard investigated citizen complaints, and North Patrol Division, where Richard supervised a squad of officers. Richard's investigative expertise was further developed in the Domestic Violence Unit, and Richard began the law enforcement career as a Police Officer enforcing state laws and conducting criminal investigations. Prior to joining the police department, Richard served as a Corporal in the United States Marine Corps and held various security roles, including Bike Patrol Officer at Washington University School of Medicine and Armed Security Officer at B&W Security. Richard holds a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice/Law Enforcement Administration from Columbia College and an Associate of Science in the same field from St. Louis Community College.
