Lauren Miller has a diverse work experience. Lauren began their career as a Shelver at St. Louis Public Library in 1999, where they handled the processing and filing of various materials. Lauren then worked as a Homework Helper, assisting children with academic activities and library programming setup. Lauren was later promoted to the position of Library Technician, where they provided assistance with reference and instruction tasks. Lauren then became a Customer Service Representative and eventually a Customer Service Specialist, where they served as a mentor to staff and provided support to system staff. In 2019, Lauren joined Metamorphosis Literary Agency as a Junior Literary Agent.

Lauren Miller's education history includes a diverse range of degrees and certifications. In 1998, they obtained their HS diploma with a focus on creative writing, photography, and ceramics from Central Visual & Performing Arts High. From 2002 to 2007, they pursued a degree in General Studies at Saint Louis Community College, earning an AA. Afterwards, they continued their education at the University of Missouri-Saint Louis from 2008 to 2009, focusing on anthropology, archaeology, and writing, resulting in a BA. Lauren then attended Washington University in St. Louis from 2009 to 2011, where they obtained a B.S. in Anthropology. In 2012, they completed the Missouri State Library 2012 Library Skills Winter Institute, receiving a Certificate of Completion for Readers' Advisory Services.
