Laura Vilines has a strong background in education and has held various leadership positions. Laura is the Founder and Executive Director of St. Louis Teacher Residency since June 2017. Prior to that, they were the Chief Academic Officer at STEM Preparatory Academy from June 2014 to January 2017. Laura also served as the Founding Academic Dean at STEM Preparatory Academy from February 2011 to May 2014. Laura worked as a Project Coordinator at Vanderbilt University for the Study of Middle School Math Teacher Induction from May 2010 to May 2011. Laura was a Curriculum Specialist at Teach For America from May 2010 to July 2010. Laura started their career as a Corps Member at Teach For America from June 2006 to June 2009.
Laura Vilines earned a Bachelor's Degree in English Literature and Political Science from Washington University in St. Louis between 2002 and 2006. From 2009 to 2011, they pursued a Master's Degree in Education Policy at Vanderbilt University. Laura later completed their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in K-12 Educational Leadership and Policy at Vanderbilt University between 2015 and 2018.
