Michael Powell

Michael Powell is a highly accomplished trombonist with extensive experience in both performance and education. Currently serving as a trombonist for the American Brass Quintet, Powell has been a member since January 1983, contributing to the ensemble's renowned status in the brass chamber music world. Alongside this role, Powell has held positions as an Artist in Residence at SUNY Stony Brook and as faculty at The Juilliard School, focusing on chamber music. Additional engagements include being a musician for the Orchestra of St. Luke's and a lecturer at Rutgers University. Powell has also served as Principal Trombone for the Kansas City Philharmonic and has taught at SUNY College at Fredonia. With a Bachelor of Music degree in Trombone from Wichita State University, Powell is recognized as one of New York City's most sought-after trombonists.
