Emily Pegues has extensive work experience in the healthcare industry. Emily is currently serving as the Chief Nursing Officer at St. Mary's Medical Center since January 2022. Prior to that, they worked as the Director of Patient Care Services at Saint Luke's Health System from March 2018 to December 2021. Before that, Emily held multiple roles at Overland Park Regional Medical Center, including Director of Emergency Services from August 2015 to March 2018 and Assistant Director, Emergency Services from May 2014 to August 2015. Emily began their career at Shawnee Mission Health as a Charge Nurse in the Emergency Department, where they worked from February 2006 to May 2014.
Emily Pegues has a diverse education history. Emily obtained a Master of Science Nursing degree in Executive Practice and Healthcare Leadership from Research College of Nursing, from 2016 to 2018. Prior to that, they received an Associate's Degree in Registered Nursing/Registered Nurse from Labette Community College, which they pursued from 2003 to 2005. Emily'sBachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Finance was earned from Kansas State University between 1999 and 2003.
Alongside their formal education, Emily Pegues also possesses various certifications. Emily obtained the "Trauma Nursing Core Course" certification from the Emergency Nurses Association in 2015. In 2006, they acquired both the "Advanced Cardiac Life Support" certification from the American Heart Association | American Stroke Association and the "Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course" certification from the Emergency Nurses Association. Additionally, they hold the "Basic Life Support" certification from the American Heart Association | American Stroke Association, which they obtained in 2004. Emily Pegues has also earned the "Nurse Executive Advanced (NEA-BC)" certification from the American Nurses Credentialing Center; however, the specific year of attainment is not provided.

The Breast Center at St. Mary’s has earned recognition by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers and Breast Imaging Center of Excellence designation from the American College of Radiology (ACR). St. Mary’s Center for Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine is part of an elite group accredited by the Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society (UHMS). UHMS accredited facilities have met the highest standards of care and patient safety. Presently there are only 5 centers in Missouri that hold this accreditation.
