Shawna Roland Cunningham has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Shawna currently holds the position of Vice President, People Services & Strategy at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital. Prior to this, they worked as a Professor at Fanshawe College-Health Care Administration Management. Shawna also served as the Director of Quality, Strategy and Innovation at St. Joseph's Health Care London and as a Quality Specialist at Ontario Health-Population Health and Value Based Medicine. Shawna has extensive experience in quality improvement, as they worked as a Quality Improvement Coach at Health Quality Ontario for nearly a decade. Additionally, they have held leadership roles in non-profit organizations, including serving as the Board Chair at Hopes's Eating Disorder Support and as the Vice Chair of the Board of Directors at Hope's Garden. Earlier in their career, Shawna worked as an Ambulatory Care Manager at London Health Sciences Centre and as the Executive Director at Pavilion Family Resource Centre.

Shawna Roland Cunningham has a diverse education history. In 1990-1994, they obtained their Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Organization Management and Communications from the University of Windsor. In 2001-2002, they pursued Alternative Dispute Resolution at Western University. Shawna later completed a Master of Arts degree in Leadership, CME at the University of Guelph from 2011-2012. Shawna also acquired a Certificate in Innovative Thinking from The University of Western Ontario-Continuing Education between 2018-2020. In 2014 and 2016, they gained specialized certifications as a Lean-Six Sigma Black Belt from EZ-Sigma and a Certified Coach Practitioner from the Certified Coaching Federation. Finally, in 2020-2021, Shawna pursued a coaching certification at the Flow Coaching Institute. Alongside their formal education, they have obtained additional certifications including the Prosci® Certified Change Practitioner from Prosci and the Flow Certified Coach(FCC) Module 1-5 from the Flow Coaching Institute, both obtained in 2021 and 2023 respectively.
