Tommy Maes

Tommy Maes has extensive experience in communication and journalism. Currently serving as a Medewerker Communicatie at Stad Turnhout since March 2024, Tommy is also temporarily functioning as a Business Partner for Internal Communication. Previous roles include an Administrative Assistant position and a long tenure at Mediahuis België, where Tommy worked as a regional journalist for Gazet van Antwerpen from August 2002 to January 2024, covering the municipality of Balen and contributing photographs. As a freelance journalist for Het Nieuwsblad Kempen, Tommy reported on news in several municipalities, including Balen, Dessel, and Mol. Tommy also contributed editorial pieces for the regional magazine Rondom Geel-Mol. Earlier experience includes a role as a Redacteur at Creatieve Pers from January 2001 to November 2011. Tommy holds a Bachelor's degree in Communication, Journalism, and Related Programs from Hogeschool PXL and completed secondary education in Human Sciences at Koninklijk Atheneum Mol.
