Scott Carmel

Operating Partner at Stage 1 Ventures

Scott Carmel is a professional investor who manages a diverse portfolio of both public and private equities across a multitude of industries including financial services, payment processing, software, restaurants, consumer products, industrial products and real estate.

Scott was an early investor in Toast POS and recently helped raise money for Miami Beach-based Aura Salonware, where he serves on the founding Board of Directors. In addition, he is currently an advisor to Crucian Hemp Farms – an integrated hemp farming and CBD processing project that is taking advantage of both the operational and tax advantages that the US Virgin Islands offers.

Scott was the founder of hedge fund Southside Capital, which invested primarily in the financial services sector and prior to founding Southside, Scott was a managing director and portfolio manager at Hutchin Hill Capital (a New York-based hedge fund), a portfolio manager at Surveyor Capital (a division of Ken Griffin’s Citadel) and a Senior Analyst at Philadelphia Financial of San Francisco. He also spent four years as a sell side stock analyst covering regional bank stocks.
