Mick Short

Principal Engineer at The Standard

Mick Short has a diverse work experience in the field of systems engineering and administration. Mick started their career as a Systems Administrator at Convergent Telecom in 1998 and worked there until 2002. After that, they joined Silverton Hospital as a Lead Systems Engineer for a few months in 2003. Mick then worked as a Consultant at CenterLogic for a short period before joining Standard Insurance Company in 2003. At Standard Insurance Company, Mick first worked as a Systems Engineer from 2003 to 2007, and then as a Lead Systems Engineer from 2007 onwards. As a Lead Systems Engineer, their responsibilities included designing, evaluating, and implementing complex systems, analyzing business problems, and ensuring optimal integration with the technological environment.

Mick Short completed their BA in Business Information Systems and Management from The University of Sheffield from 1994 to 1998. Prior to that, they pursued A-Levels in Economics, Geography, and Art at Selby College from 1994 to 1996. Additionally, Mick Short obtained several certifications including Certified SAFe® 6 Architect from Scaled Agile, Inc. in 2023, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert from Microsoft in 2022, Azure 101 Certified from Skill Me Up in 2020, Certified SAFe® 5 Architect from Scaled Agile, Inc. in 2022, Citrix Certified Enterprise Administrator (CCEA) from Citrix, Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 R2 Configuration from Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist, and VMware Certified Professional 4 (VCP) from VMware.
