Benjamin Bates

Benjamin Bates, MLIS, Certified Archivist, currently serves as an Operations and Collections Specialist at Stanford University since April 2011, where responsibilities include creating and maintaining descriptive metadata for various collections and original cataloging of sound recordings. Previous roles include Operations Manager, Archives Specialist, and Positions in cataloging and processing at Stanford University, as well as a Library Page at the San Francisco Public Library. Prior to these positions, Benjamin worked as a Digital Archivist/Docent at the Mill Valley History Room. Benjamin holds a Master of Library & Information Science from San José State University, a Master of Public Administration from San Francisco State University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Special Major, Sound Design from San Francisco State University, along with additional education from the Society of American Archivists, University of North Texas, and University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
