Crystal Chen is a Ph.D. candidate at Stanford University in the Bioengineering department, focused on developing synthetic biology tools for next-generation engineered T cell therapies under the guidance of Stanley Qi. Prior experience includes a research internship at Kite Pharma in summer 2024 and an internship at The Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Biosustainability in early 2020. Crystal also served as an undergraduate researcher in the MIT Prather Research Group, working on microbial synthesis tools and quorum sensing circuits, and in the MIT Trout Research Group, conducting research on crystallization of pharmaceuticals. An R&D internship at Covaris further contributed to expertise in bioproduction processes and applications of adaptive focused acoustics technology. Crystal holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical-Biological Engineering from MIT and is pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy in Chemical Engineering at Stanford University.
