Michael Wara is the Senior Director of Policy at the Sustainability Accelerator within the Stanford Doerr School of Sustainability, where they focus on energy, climate, and wildfire policy while managing cross-functional teams to address real-world sustainability challenges. They previously directed the Climate and Energy Policy Program at Stanford University, advising policymakers on effective strategies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. A trained lawyer, Michael has also served as an Associate Professor at Stanford Law School, teaching environmental and energy law while mentoring students and engaging in extensive regulatory advising. Michael holds a PhD in Ocean Sciences from the University of California, Santa Cruz, and a JD from Stanford Law School.
