Tom Baer

Tom Baer is an accomplished leader in the field of optics and photonics, currently serving as President of the Optical Society of America since 2009. His role as Executive Director at the Stanford Photonics Research Center, which began in 2005, complements his academic contributions. Baer has also served on the VCAT at NIST from 2006 to 2012 and was the Founder of Auoxgyn, Inc. between 2008 and 2010. Prior to these roles, Baer founded and served as CEO at Arcturus Bioscience from 1996 to 2004 and held the position of VP Research at Biometric Imaging, Inc. and Spectra Physics. Academic qualifications include a PhD in Physics from the University of Chicago and an OPM32 degree in Business from Harvard Business School.
