James Irvine

Senior Director, Supply Chain Strategy And Capabilities at Staples Canada

James Irvine has extensive experience in supply chain and operations management. James began their career at SigmaPoint Technologies, where they served as a Product Manager and Lead Architect. During their tenure, they designed and implemented a production monitoring system and managed a team of developers.

Irvine then worked at Gennum Corporation as a Corporate Development Analyst. In this role, they conducted market research and analysis, developed competitive intelligence tools, and identified potential acquisition and partnership opportunities.

James later joined Deloitte - Strategy & Operations as a Senior Consultant. Their engagements focused on strategic sourcing, distribution network design, inventory optimization, and demand and supply planning. Irvine was involved in international projects and contributed to the successful implementation of procurement transformations and supply chain network strategies.

After their time at Deloitte, Irvine joined Kinross Gold Corporation, where they held various senior management positions. As Senior Manager of Global Supply Chain Operations, they oversaw the company's supply chain systems and processes, developed standardized category management processes, and led supply chain training and development programs. James also served as a Global Sourcing Manager, establishing strategic supplier relationships and providing sourcing advice to mine site leaders.

Most recently, Irvine worked at Rogers Communications as a Director of Supply Chain Capabilities. James led the technology enablement of key supply chain processes, implemented a demand, supply, and S&OP platform, and established a data and analytics capability.

Currently, Irvine works as the Senior Director of Supply Chain Strategy and Capabilities at Staples Canada.

James Irvine has a diverse education history. James completed a Continuing Education program in Machine Learning at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2019. Prior to that, they earned an MBA degree in General Management from the Ivey Business School at Western University from 2005 to 2007. James also holds a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Computer Science, with a specialization in Software Engineering, from Western University, which they obtained from 1997 to 2001. In addition to their formal education, James has obtained several certifications, including CPIM (Certified in Production and Inventory Management) from APICS (Association for Operations Management) in 2011, PMP (Project Management Professional) from PMI (Project Management Institute) in 2009, and CSC (Canadian Securities Course) from CSI (Canadian Securities Institute) in 2003.
