Alex Kim

Alex Kim has a diverse work experience spanning several industries. Alex started their career as a Sergeant/Noncommissioned Officer in the United States Marine Corps, serving from October 1999 to October 2003. After their military service, they worked as a Cable Technician at Henkels & McCoy, Inc. from October 2003 to December 2004. Alex then transitioned to a Licensed Realtor role at Weichert, Realtors from June 2004 to September 2007. From 2005 to 2011, they owned and operated Franconia Pizza. In 2012, they became a Credit Union Examiner at NCUA, where they worked until April 2016. Alex then joined the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau as a Compliance Examiner from April 2016 to September 2018. Currently, they are working at Star One Credit Union, where they started as a Compliance and Risk Manager in September 2018 and later became the Vice President Internal Audit and Compliance (CAE) in June 2020.

Alex Kim has a diverse and extensive education history. Alex completed their Master of Business Administration (MBA) at the Haas School of Business, University of California, Berkeley, from 2020 to 2023. Prior to this, they pursued a Graduate Certificate in International Security from Stanford University School of Engineering, attending from 2014 to 2016. Alex also holds a BBA/MUS degree in International Business with a minor in Music from The George Washington University School of Business, which they obtained from 2007 to 2010.

In addition to their academic degrees, Alex has obtained multiple certifications to enhance their professional skills. In 2018, they became a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) through The Institute of Internal Auditors Inc. In 2019, they obtained the Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM) certification from the American Bankers Association and the NAFCU Certified Compliance Officer certification from the National Association of Federally-Insured Credit Unions (NAFCU). Furthermore, in 2021, they obtained the NAFCU Certified Risk Manager certification from NAFCU and the CU Enterprise Risk Management Expert certification from the Credit Union National Association. Lastly, in 2022, they completed the Audit executive learning program at The Institute of Internal Auditors - Vision University.
