Michael van der Looij

Michael van der Looij is the Director of Finance at Star Stable Entertainment. Michael has over eight years of experience in finance and accounting, and has held various positions at Star Stable Entertainment AB, including Finance Director, Financial Controller, and Manager of Dutch-speaking markets. In their role as financial controller, Michael is responsible for P&L and balance sheet reporting, budgets, corporate finance, cash flow analysis, invoice and cost control, signalling trends in specific revenue streams, payments (including negotiating and monitoring payment terms with partners), currency exposure, product pricing across markets, compliance, due diligence, and shareholder relations.

In addition to their day-to-day duties, Michael has been heavily involved in implementing a new payment service provider with customised PayPal integration, which minimises exchange rate conversion fees. Michael has also led the integration of a completely new cloud-based ERP system called Xledger. This system has been set up with automatic invoice registration and automatic payment of suppliers through matching currency accounts (limiting exchange rate fees).

Prior to joining Star Stable Entertainment, Michael worked as a technical consultant at Sector Alarm and as a co-founder, treasurer, and spokesperson at Mercuriales. Michael holds an MSc in Financial Economics from Radboud University Nijmegen and has also completed internships in asset management and compliance at Van Lanschot Bankiers and research associate at Baranka institute & University of Curaçao.

Michael van der Looij has a BSc in Financial Economics from Radboud University of Nijmegen, and an MSc in Financial Economics from Fontys University of Applied Sciences. Michael also has a Swedish Language and Literature degree from SFI Svenka För Invandrare.
