Kyndell Harkness has a diverse background in photojournalism, with over 30 years of experience. Kyndell started their career as a Staff Photographer at The State News in 1989 and worked there until 1992. Kyndell then moved on to Daily Press and worked as a Staff Photographer from 1995 to 2000. In 2000, they joined The Star Tribune as a Staff Photographer and later transitioned to the role of Photo Editor, where they served from 2015 to 2020. Kyndell then took on the position of Assistant Managing Editor of Diversity and Community until 2023. In the same company, they currently hold the position of Head of Culture and Community. In addition to their work at The Star Tribune, they have also worked as a Photo Instructor at AAJA J Camp since 2005, teaching aspiring photographers. From 2018 to 2020, they served as the Photo Editing Chair at the National Press Photographers Association.
