Brendan Newlon has a diverse work experience. Brendan started their career as a Staff member in the Humanistic Buddhist Monastic Life Program at Fo Guang Shan Monastery from June 2006 to July 2006. Brendan then became an Instructor and Translator at the same monastery from June 2007 to July 2007. Brendan worked as a Writing Tutor at Santa Barbara City College from October 2010 to August 2011. In August 2011, they became a Founding Partner and Manager of a rental real estate investment company in L.A. County. Brendan joined UC Santa Barbara in September 2009 and held various positions until June 2017, including being a Doctoral Researcher in Religious Studies from September 2013 to September 2017. Brendan also served as an Instructor/Teaching Associate from July 2015 to July 2017 and as an Online Education & Learning Management Systems (LMS) Support from September 2014 to June 2017. Additionally, Brendan was a Teaching Assistant and/or Exam Grader from September 2009 to June 2016, and an Instructional Technology and Foreign Language Education Assistant from September 2011 to August 2014. From July 2016 to 2017, they were a Participants Coordinator for the Jewish-Muslim Student Dialogue Series. Brendan then worked as a Post-doctoral Fellow at the Center for Creative Leadership from July 2018 to July 2020. Currently, they are working as a Solutions Architect at Stardog, starting from October 2020.

Brendan Newlon completed their education chronologically as follows:

- From 2013 to 2017, they attended UC Santa Barbara and obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Religious Studies.

- Prior to that, from 2008 to 2013, they pursued a Master of Arts (MA) degree in Religious Studies from UC Santa Barbara.

- Brendan also holds a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Religious Studies with a minor in Chinese, which they earned from UC Santa Barbara from 2003 to 2006.

- In 2006, they participated in a Chinese language and culture travel study program at Nanjing University, organized through UC Santa Barbara.

- Brendan took part in a Chinese immersion program at Beijing Normal University in 2005, facilitated by Princeton University's Princeton in Beijing program.

- In 2004 to 2005, they spent a semester abroad at the National University of Singapore, organized through UC Santa Barbara's Education Abroad Program (EAP).

- In 2001 and 2002, Brendan studied Psychology and Business Administration at the Inter-American University of Puerto Rico - Metropolitan Campus.

- Recently, from 2018 to 2020, they earned a Data Scientist with R certificate from DataCamp.com, specializing in Data Science.

Additionally, Brendan Newlon has obtained several additional certifications. In August 2020, they completed the "Adobe XD: Using UI Kits" certification offered by LinkedIn. Brendan also obtained the "Semantic Web Training" certification from Semantic Web Company GmbH (SWC) in the same month. In May 2020, Brendan achieved the "Data Scientist with R (Career Track - 89 hours/22 courses)" certification from DataCamp. Furthermore, they became a Neo4j Certified Professional (Graph Database Developer) in May 2020, certified by Neo4j.
