Solutions Architect at Stardog

Catherine Dalzell has extensive work experience in various fields. Catherine started their career as a Senior Statistician at the Canadian Red Cross Society in 1991, where they conducted statistical analyses and forecasted demand for blood products. Catherine then worked as a Senior Statistician at Canadian Blood Services, where they trained staff in quality control methods and forecasted product usage and demand.

In 2009, Catherine joined the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario as a Data Specialist and later became a Research Assistant. Their responsibilities included conducting statistical analyses, studying causes of patient admissions surge, and developing visualizations of psychometric data.

In 2011, Catherine started their own consulting company, Dalzell Consulting, where they served as a Senior Statistician and Data Scientist. Catherine provided data science and statistical services, data strategy, and technical writing for researchers and executives.

From 2011 to 2016, Catherine also worked as a Member of the Methods Centre and a Statistician with the BRI Methods Centre at the Bruyere Research Institute. There, they assisted researchers in statistical analysis and study design using technologies such as SPSS and R.

In 2014, Catherine joined the Department of National Defence as a Senior Statistician, where they reviewed survey research practices and assisted Defence Scientists in designing and analyzing experimental data using various analytic techniques and technologies.

In 2016, Catherine joined Mariner xVu as a Data Scientist, responsible for applying their expertise in statistical analysis to support the company's objectives.

In 2020, Catherine joined REIN as a Senior Data Scientist, where they contributed their skills and knowledge to supporting the company's data science initiatives.

Currently, Catherine is working at Stardog as a Solutions Architect, applying their expertise in developing solutions and providing guidance to clients.

Additionally, Catherine has held part-time faculty positions at the University of Ottawa, where they taught various math courses, including algebra and modeling for the life sciences.

Throughout their career, Catherine has demonstrated proficiency in statistical analysis, study design, and various technologies and programming languages, including SPSS, R, Python, and Eclipse.

Catherine Dalzell has an extensive education history. Catherine obtained a Ph.D. in Statistics from Carnegie Mellon University, completing their studies from 1980 to 1985. Prior to that, they pursued an M.S. in Biomathematics from the University of Oxford between 1978 and 1979. Catherine also holds a B.Sc. in Mathematics from the University of Toronto, which they completed from 1974 to 1978. Catherine attended the Toronto French School for their primary and secondary education, graduating with a secondary school degree between 1963 and 1973.

In addition to their academic degrees, Catherine has obtained various certifications. In 2014, they acquired the Data Science Associate (EMCDSA) certification from EMC. Catherine also completed several Coursera course certificates related to big data, including Big Data Integration and Processing, Big Data Modeling and Management Systems, Graph Analytics for Big Data, Machine Learning with Big Data, and Introduction to Big Data. These courses were completed between 2016 and 2014.
