Thorold Tronrud

Thorold Tronrud, PhD, is a Machine Learning Scientist and Software Engineer at StarFish Medical since September 2021, specializing in AI/ML development for next-generation medical devices across various medical fields. Previously, Thorold was a PhD student in Astrophysics at Universidad Andres Bello from September 2018 to January 2023, focusing on the analysis of Auriga simulations and creating a neural network for star classification in galactic discs. Thorold also served as a Graduate Student at the University of Victoria from September 2016 to March 2019, working on APOSTLE simulation data and assisting as a lab instructor. Additionally, a research assistant position at the University of Chicago's Molecular Engineering Institute involved theoretical and computational modeling of materials. Thorold holds a PhD in Astrophysics from Universidad Andres Bello, a Master's in Astronomy and Astrophysics from the University of Victoria, and a background in engineering from the University of Chicago.
