Jennifer Stencel

Jennifer Stencel's work experience includes the following roles:

- Director of Branch Services at Stark County District Library since July 2023. In this role, they oversee the services and operations of 9 satellite locations, leads the planning and implementation of patron services throughout the system, and develops policies and procedures to enhance the library's public service initiatives.

- Branch Manager and Teen Librarian at Akron-Summit County Public Library from May 2009 to July 2023. During their time there, they implemented various initiatives such as prototyping a co-working area, establishing an outreach service through a Pop Up Library approach, piloting a reorganization project towards the BISAC-Hybrid "Glade" model, and elevating the library's presence through community engagement. Jennifer also created the NatureConnect concept, which transformed unused outdoor space into a programming area, and successfully adopted the Participatory Program model for family, teen, and adult programs.

- Teen Librarian at Richfield Branch Library from May 2001 to April 2009.

- Teen Librarian at Shaker Heights Public Library from August 1998 to April 2001.

Jennifer Stencel began their education at Baldwin Wallace University, where they obtained a Bachelor's degree in Education from 1994 to 1996. Jennifer then pursued a Master of Library & Information Science (MLIS) with a focus on Public Library and Information Science and School Media Specialist at Kent State University from 1996 to 1997. Later, they attended San Jose State University from 2015 to 2017 and obtained a post-masters degree in LIS with a specialization in Emerging Technologies and Digital Services.

In addition to their formal education, Jennifer has also obtained several certifications. Jennifer completed Protoyping and Systems Design courses from IDEO.org and Acumen, respectively, in April 2017. Jennifer also completed Design Kit: The Course for Human Centered Design from IDEO.org in November 2016. Furthermore, Jennifer holds a certification as a Certified Public Librarian from the State Library of Ohio, although the specific details such as the month and year of obtaining the certification are unknown.
