Tarek Fahmy has a strong background in software engineering and entrepreneurship. Tarek co-founded StartupGym in 2021, where they lead product development and builds out minimum viable products (MVPs) for the startups they launch. Prior to that, in 2020, they worked as an Executive in Residence at Terminal. From 2012 to 2020, Tarek served as the SVP of Engineering at Wish, where they played a pivotal role in developing and overseeing the consumer product division. Tarek built and led a team of over 150 members across various departments. Tarek also founded Tafasa in 2009 and served as the CEO, creating and marketing over 20 successful BlackBerry applications that garnered millions of downloads. Additionally, they gained valuable experience through internships at Facebook and Google, where they worked on software engineering projects and growth initiatives. Tarek also worked as a Mobile Applications Developer at Viigo, enhancing their BlackBerry and iPhone products. In 2008, they were an ASP.NET Application Developer at Research In Motion, where they developed internal solutions to improve productivity.
Tarek Fahmy completed their education at various institutions. Tarek'seducation history began at Cairo American College, where they obtained an American High School Diploma with IB Certificates from 1994 to 2007. Afterward, they pursued a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Computer Engineering with a Management Sciences option at the University of Waterloo from 2007 to 2012. Most recently, they attended the Bologna Business School from 2020 to 2021, where they earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree with a specialization in Supercars, Superbikes & Motorsports.
