Joe Putnam has a diverse work experience in the field of sports media. Joe started their career in 2004 as a Sports Talk Show Host, Producer, Board Operator, and Archivist at WAER-FM. During this time, they also reported on Syracuse postgame press conferences and locker room interviews. In 2007, they worked as an Assistant Director of Media Relations and Broadcasting for the Auburn Doubledays, where they coordinated media requests and called baseball play-by-play and color commentary on radio. From 2008 to 2011, they served as a Radio Play-by-Play Broadcaster and Studio Host at WLYC 1050 AM, calling various high school and university sports games. Joe then joined WHVL-TV in 2010 as a Television Football/Basketball/Wrestling Play-by-Play Broadcaster, covering live games and delivering promotional and sponsor reads. In 2011, they started working at Penn State University as a Public Address Announcer/Internal Football PA Announcer, providing timely information to media during home football games. Joe also served as a Public Address Announcer for other Penn State sports events. Since 2013, they have been a Play-by-Play Commentator/Color Commentator/Sideline Reporter at Penn State Sports Properties, covering women's basketball games and performing producer and engineer roles for various men's and women's basketball and football broadcasts. Their most recent role is as the Director of Communications at State College Spikes Baseball, where they focus on marketing initiatives and telling the organization's story to fans. Throughout their career, Joe has won awards for their work and developed content for various social media platforms.

Joe Putnam attended Syracuse University from 2003 to 2007, where they earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Broadcast Journalism.
