Denise Scarpelli

Denise Scarpelli, PharmD, MBA, currently serves as the Vice President and Chief Pharmacy Officer at the University of Chicago since August 2017, while also holding the position of Executive Director. In addition, Denise has been a member of the Illinois Board of Pharmacy, acting as Chair, since November 2015. Previously, Denise was the Executive Director of Ambulatory Pharmacy and Business Development at the University of Chicago Medicine from August 2017 to August 2022. Denise's extensive experience includes a significant tenure at Walgreens from December 2001 to August 2017, where leadership roles included Director of Pharmacy and Retail Chicago East, Regional Healthcare Director Chicago, and Market Pharmacy Director Chicago, overseeing operations of 275 stores with annual sales of $2.1 billion. Denise holds an MBA from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and a PharmD from the University of Illinois College of Pharmacy.
