Michael Calhoun

Michael Calhoun serves as the Chair of the Board of Directors for the Columbia Soil and Water Conservation District, a position held since April 2021 following an election by Columbia County voters. Calhoun also functions as the Associate Director for Columbia County Zone 2, assisting the community in sustaining local natural resources. In December 2023, Calhoun was appointed to the Governor's Salmon Trout Enhancement Program, where responsibilities include reviewing policies of the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife. Previous leadership roles include Chair of the Upper Nehalem Watershed Council and Chair of the Vernonia Public Works Committee. Calhoun has been actively involved with various organizations, including the Democratic Party of Oregon as an Environmental Caucus Delegate and the Izaak Walton League of America during a salmon survey project. Educational credentials include a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies from the University of Oregon and a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies from Western Oregon University.
