Bret Daugherty

Bret Daugherty is a seasoned military leader and educator with extensive experience in command, emergency management, and facility management. Since July 2012, Daugherty has served as the Adjutant General and Director of the Washington Military Department, leading 8,000 Soldiers and Airmen of the Washington National Guard and acting as Homeland Security Advisor to the Governor. Prior to this role, Daugherty was the Construction and Facility Management Officer for the Washington Army National Guard from April 2005 to June 2009, overseeing various aspects of facility management. Earlier in Daugherty's career, teaching positions at Meridian Junior High School included instructing Social Studies and History while coaching football and track. Daugherty holds multiple degrees, including an MS in Strategic Studies from the US Army War College and a B.S. and M.P.A. in Psychology and Public Administration from Seattle University.
