James Chan

Principal Architect, Cloud Technology, VP at State Street

James Chan has a diverse work experience spanning over several companies and roles. James started their career in 1994 by forming their own company, MICY, where they were the President and responsible for product design, software development, production management, and worldwide marketing. James then worked at Keane as a Senior Principal Consultant, where they built a new line of business and provided consulting services for various financial services companies.

In 1998, James joined Accenture as an Experienced Manager, where they worked on acquiring new banking business capabilities and designed a real-time Customer Relationship Management system. James also created an enterprise architecture framework for an investment management company.

From 1999 to 2001, James worked at O1 Incorporated in Seoul, South Korea as a Principal. James successfully built the technology capability of a $20 million internet startup and was responsible for budget projections and IT operations.

In 2002, James returned to Keane as a Senior Principal Consultant and continued to deliver consulting services for financial services companies.

From 2004 to 2007, James worked at Investor's Bank & Trust (currently State Street Bank) as a System Director. James established enterprise architecture blueprints and collaborated with senior directors to improve business processes and establish strategic roadmaps.

James then joined State Street in 2004 as a Vice President of Development, where they collaborated with senior VPs to improve business processes and developed State Street Cloud's common business entity services. James also architected and developed fault-tolerant services that supported millions of transactions per day.

In 2019, James worked at CLOUDCONTROL SOLUTIONS as a Principle Enterprise Solution Architect, specialized in low latency trading and processing and architecture of cloud-based solutions. Later that year, they joined Linedata as a Director of Software Development and played a key role in reorganizing teams, introducing Agile principles, and delivering "production-ready" products in 6 months.

Currently, James works at State Street as a Principal Architect, Cloud technology, VP, where they bring their expertise in cloud technology to the company.

James Chan completed a Bachelor of Mathematics degree in Computer Science at the University of Waterloo from 1980 to 1984. In 2019, they obtained the AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate (SAA) certification through Amazon in partnership with Alpine Testing Solutions.
