Amy MacKenzie

Literacy Coordinator Professor at State University of New York at New Paltz

Amy MacKenzie is an experienced educator with a diverse background in special education and literacy instruction. Currently serving as the Supervisor of Secondary Special Services for Suffern Central School District since December 2019, Amy also holds the position of Literacy Coordinator and Professor at SUNY New Paltz since 2013. Prior roles include Special Education Teacher for Ramapo Central School District from 2009 to December 2019, and for Yonkers Public Schools from 2002 to 2009. Earlier in Amy's career, a position as an English and Social Studies Teacher for grades 6-8 was held with the City of New York Board of Education from 2000 to 2002. Amy's academic credentials include a Ph.D. in Language, Literacy and Learning from Fordham University, a Master's in Educational Leadership and Administration from Bank Street College of Education, and a Master's in Reading and Learning Disabilities from New York University, along with a Bachelor's degree in Secondary/Special Education/English from Manhattan University.
